father's day

Eric is loved around here. These kids adore their dad with all of their hearts. They were excited to celebrate him on Father's day.

They kidnapped their dad from his room and brought him downstairs to eat the breakfast they made for him.

He was quite pleased to see his favorite breakfast, waffles.

They showered him with gifts, cards, and love.

Eric really is such a great father.

seattle weekend

We used some of our respite hours and had just over 24 hours to play in Seattle, just me and E.

We started our afternoon off at the temple. Which was really great and wonderful for many reasons, but also a little dramatic when I started to pass out when we were the witness couple. The workers jumped into action and were really great. I was quite embarrassed by the whole thing, but I am fine now. I think it was just a blood sugar thing. Though I made an appointment with a dr. just to be sure. 

Anyways, after that drama we enjoyed the rest of the temple session and then we were off to downtown seattle. We decided we wanted to do some of the touristy things of seattle before we move. We decided on the Underground Tour. 

We played some shuffleboard before the tour started. I had no skills at this game.

Then we joined our tour group for some history of seattle. We headed underground into the tunnels . . .

The history of seattle was interesting, but quite dark. The tunnels were musty and a bit creepy. and I decided I did not want to be under there if there was an earthquake. So I was happy to be above ground again.

Eric has always wanted to eat at Paseo's. We made that dream happened. We thoroughly enjoyed that caribbean sandwich. yum.

Then we met up with some of our friends at Red Mill burger. After burgers and shakes we headed over to Locurio--a puzzle room.

We were all brand new at escape rooms and we weren't sure what to expect. But it was a blast! When I was reading reviews about where to go, I read reviews from a couple different people who claim to travel across the country, or even the world, trying out different escape rooms. I thought it was a little weird and crazy why someone would do that, but we had such a fun night at Locurio's I kind of get it now.

We had a late night visit with the Fremont Troll.

Then we checked into our fancy hotel in downtown seattle.

We spent Saturday morning at Pike Place Market.

We ate a piroshky for lunch and then headed home to take Layla to her dance recital.

I love down town seattle. I am going to miss having this vibrant city so close.

ending the school year

Summer just snuck up on me this year! We have been so busy with house stuff and concerts, recitals, and celebrations. And then, all of the sudden, it is here. The kids are playing outside and watching tv and, most importantly, I got to sleep in past 6:30am this morning! Yay for the first day of summer break!

These last few weeks of school have been filled. 

Kacin and his baseball team ended the season strong. They almost made it to the second to last tournament game.

 

Layla had her first ballet recital. She was counting down the days for ballet class to be over. Sad. I guess it's not her thing right now. But she sure looked cute up there on that stage. I snapped some pictures from backstage during the dress rehearsal. The actual performance looked similar, except her finger was up her nose then. She was the third from the left, the one who kept twirling and twirling even when it was time to stop.

 

 

 

 

We also loved Kacin's school concert. It was a musical review. And it was full of energy and lots of fun watching these kids dance and sing across the stage. The 5th graders performed songs from "Oliver". And Kacin got to stand on the table. And he made sure to dab before he stepped down. 

Layla graduated from preschool.

Us moms graduated, too.

There was an authors celebration at Kacin's school. I got to lead a group of kids as they shared their writing. Kacin got a little goofy when I asked for a picture.

Kacin "graduated" from 5th grade. I'm sorry, but I still think 5th grade graduation is the silliest thing. Sure, I'm proud of Kacin and it's fun to celebrate him, but by golly I think sometimes too big of a deal is made out of things. And this is one of them. But I went and supported and cheered for him and all of his friends. And most likely we will be celebrating again next year at the new school because 6th grade is still elementary school in our new district.

 Kyler had a fabulous year in 6th grade at middle school! He had a fun party at school, but I didn't make it down there to embarrass him.

We also celebrated a great year in kindergarten for Perry. We loved his teachers. He loved going to school, riding the bus, and being with his friends.
