Halloween

This is Halloween! This is Halloween!

These three dressed up for our ward Halloween party as a ninja, a ballerina, and a movie star.

I love that 20 min before we left for the party is when we pulled out the dress up bin and got creative on what to be.

Perry’s ninja skills were on point.

At the party there was a build your own soda station. Brinn was in heaven and perfectly content off people watching with her soda in hand.

A few days earlier, Eric and I dressed up for our ballroom dance class Halloween party. We were Bob Ross and his painting. This was also the night that we performed our first cha-cha. We are such beginners and our dance reflected that but we have so much fun together.

On Halloween afternoon, we went to my sister’s house for a family party. We got a picture of all the kids in the Halloween costumes. Kacin and Kyler didn’t dress up for Halloween, but when it was time for a picture they grabbed clothes out of the closet to be Jacqui and Josh. Haha!

We came home in time for chili with our neighbors and trick or treating through the neighborhood.

This time Layla went as Hermione Granger.

Perry switched back to his classic storm trooper costume.

Brinna settled on Minnie Mouse.

They came home with lots of candy and happy memories.

pumpkins and a spooky meal

It was Halloween day when Eric took the kids outside to carve pumpkins. I’m always so glad he leads this tradition.

Kyler, Layla, Brinna, and Perry all carved out perfectly simple or spooky jack-o-lanterns.

Kacin preferred only to take the top off of his pumpkin, scoop his seeds for roasting, and dream of smashing the orange thing in some destructive fashion.










On Halloween day, we went to Jacqui's house and served all the kids a Halloween themed mixed up meal. We served three items in each of three courses. My mom used to prepare mixed up meals for us so I loved another chance to carry on the tradition. I've done it with my kids before, but this was the first one for Jacqui's kids.

Fall Farm

Living in Washington spoiled us when it came to farms in the fall. Arizona holds nothing to it. But we keep trying.

We spent an evening at Vertuccio farms. The weather was pretty perfect. Everyone else must have felt that too because it was pretty crowded. We still got around to do all the traditionally fun things we do there.

Layla is the only kid who will jump on the jumping mats. I tried to get Brinna on but she just cried the whole time.

We did get Brinna on the slide though.

Layla is such a caring big sister. Always attentive to her little sister.

I love that I have pictures of each of my kids at these duck races over the years. 

We tried to see how many animal puns and jokes we could come up with when we walked by the ducks and donkeys.

Pumpkins!


















We were missing Perry for the first part of our visit. He had activity days and so we had someone drive him to us. The conditions have to be right in order for him to enjoy a visit to the farm. With such high crowds we made the right choice by having him come late.

They try so hard to make weird and obnoxious faces in all pictures. Haha

The thing is, I don’t have to try. It happens naturally for me.

Meanwhile, Layla was helping Brinna again.

Perry arrived just in time for a few activities with us before the corn maze.

I love corn mazes so much. We had to divide up this year once we went inside, but so fun to wander around.

At one point, Brinna ran ahead of us and turned a corner in the corn. I heard her scream and run back to us. Monsters! There were monsters and she was sure if it. Then the poor dear tripped and fell. I scooped her up into my arms She had been so brave to try to lead the way, but quickly learned to stay right with us. 

It was kind of fun watching the sunset while in the corn rows.

After the corn maze, we quickly grabbed a couple of pumpkins and said our goodbyes to the farm.
