We each colored one special egg
for every person in our family.

We spent Saturday afternoon
eating yummy food and Egg hunting
at a friend's house.
It was a perfect day for an egg-hunt.

So many eggs!
I think they each found
30 filled eggs.
My boys were so excited
to carry a basket overflowing with candy and eggs.

The Easter Bunny came the next morning.
There were kites in our Easter baskets
and eggs hidden in the backyard.

That evening,
we went to another friend's house
for dinner and another egg hunt.
But no pictures.

It was a completely Egg-filled fun weekend.

(And maybe I should say,
amongst all the egg-citement of eggs,
we did talk about the real meaning of Easter
and read some beautiful stories of Jesus, too.)

Frugal

I was part of a Relief Society meeting last week
on Provident Living
teaching a mini-lesson with two friends
on Frugal Home management.
And so I was thinking about some of my frugal ways . . .
these are the things that I did not share
during our discussion on Wednesday,
probably for good reason,
which could very well become a weird list of things I've done
entitled
You Know You are
{Frugal, a Cheapskate, Thrifty, Crazy} When . . .
*You don't buy garbage bags for the first 5 years of marriage
(that's what Target and grocery bags are for . . . especially when there is only 2 of you)
*You bring pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters to buy a pizza for dinner (a way to use up all the change you save in that jar!)
*Even though your cell phone is the biggest piece of junk and never works right, you wait out the two years just to get a free phone
*Most of the pens and pencils you have around the house, you collected at the last National Math conference you went to
*You haven't bought a gift bag in at least 6 years
*You haunt the thrift stores in search for Christmas presents and snow boots
*You ration the bread
*You have a contest with your husband to see who can make a roll of toilet paper last longer
*You walk long distances to your destination to avoid paying for parking

And the funny thing is
I'm sure this list of mine could go on and on
with all the weird, cheap things I've done.

But we've never been in debt.:)

Bike-A-Thon

Kacin's school participated in a Bike-a-Thon
to raise money for St. Jude's.
Last year,
he had his broken arm
and a borrowed trike
so he could still participate.
This year,
he was on his 2-wheeler again
zooming around.

How Romantic It Was

Just the two of us.
Sharing fish, clam chowder, and hot cocoa
worrying that the pigeons and seagulls were preparing to attack
while gazing into each other's eyes.
or the nice view of the puget sound
and all the interesting people walking around
We strolled along the beach
and around the lighthouse,
hand in hand
E stopping to read the signs and impatient me hurrying him on
Confessing our undying love.
probably just discussing our kids the majority of the time
Romantic E swept me off my feet tonight.
and took me to the pharmacy to pick up medicine
on the way home.

 



Always Funny

He continues to make me laugh every day.
But as he gets older,
I usually have to bite my lip
to keep from cracking up to his face.
He does not like for you to laugh,
except when he intends for you to laugh.
And he'll often say something clever or smart aleck,
but I don't want to encourage his back-talking, 
so I muster up all the self-control I have
to keep a straight face.
And then Eric and I laugh out loud about it later.

I feel like this is one of those funny instances
he wouldn't get too embarrassed about.
He was really hyper before dinner the other day.
Really hyper.
So I asked him to do a hook-up before we sat down.
He was still a bit wound-up
so I decided to try something my friend does with her son.
Basically, using two hands you give a gentle, but firm massage
down his arms and legs.
I'm sure there's a better way to explain this technique than that. oh well.
As I was working on his arms,
he says
"What? Are you checking me for weapons?"
Obviously, reminding him of things he saw during our recent air travel or something.
He's such a goof.

Trip to Texas, 6 & 7

We got to try our hand

on the simulators that the pilots train on.

I have two little boys who totally want to be pilots now.

I totally got dizzy from the experience

so I know I do not want to be a pilot.

We also got to go to the cool Prairie Dog park.

The next day, we spent 14 and a half hours traveling home.
I'm not sure if it was worth saving the money
to have to take off and land 3 times.
The day dragged on and on.
But we eventually made it home!
Kyler worked on these mosaics on the planes.
The bottom one sums it up for me, too:
Yeah! Texas is fun!

Trip to {Oklahoma}, 5

O-O-O-O-Oklahoma!
Where the wind comes sweeping down the plains!
And it almost blew us off Wichita Mountain.

We saw some Bison roaming the land
and visited the Bison museum and the Oklahoma visitor's center.

We stopped for lunch and took a walk at a pretty spot.

Eric and I were happy this vacation let us
check TWO more states
off our list
of places to visit.
